About The Winemaker

Born and raised in Tasmania, Linda and her late husband Vaughn Dell purchased the original two-hectare vineyard that is now Sinapius in 2005.

Their love of the island saw both of them return to their roots after spending time living and working in some of Australia’s best wine regions, including Yarra Valley and Margaret River.

Linda’s wine journey started the organic way – by drinking it! Whilst living in Sydney, soaking up the food and culture, it was a natural evolution for her to delve into wine.

She loves Chardonnay from everywhere, and Chablis if forced to choose a favourite.

About The Winery

When Linda and Vaughn embarked on their winemaking venture, their objective was to craft exceptional wines with minimal interference. From the initial planting and attentive nurturing of the grapes to their maintenance and eventual harvest, they were committed to executing each step to the utmost of their capabilities.

The 4.3-hectare vineyard is situated 80-100 meters above sea level, providing the grapes with an extended and consistent growing season. Inspired by the vineyard traditions of Burgundy, Sinapius Winery’s philosophy emphasises low vine yields to concentrate the grapes and maximise their intensity, a key factor in crafting exceptional wine.

About The RAFI Drop

2019 Sinapius ‘Home Vineyard’ Chardonnay

This 100% estate grown Chardonnay sourced is wild fermented in French Oak barrels, undergoing full malolactic fermentation and 12 months maturation.

Described as a wine that has been allowed to explore far horizons without ever losing sight of home, it has delightful notes of nectarine, grapefruit with lightly grilled nuts and cooked peach nose. It has a long finish and retains youthful, savoury oak notes.
